What is this place?
I stumbled across this site and was amazed. How come nobody has said a word about Grapevine? You all need to advertise. I get the feeling you all are brand new- and Tallahassee NEEDS a site like this. All there is- is Craigs list and you can't turst them- and the Tallahassee Democrat- and they charge money. I know. I go to both sites.
I go to the Democrat to make fun of them and vent about life here in T-town, My life in particular, because who else could I write about except my wife or my cats. And I go to Craigs list to find jobs- and well You never KNOW what will pop up there. it is scam site. So is the Democrat with its Careerbuilder scam. But I digress.
Who am I?
What this is is a blog about my life- so I should give some details. I am a fifty year old, white, male, married. FSU graduate School of Visual Art 1982. I have spent 30 years living and working in T-town and she and I are old adversaries. You know the drill. Find a crummy job to pay your bills, feed yourself and maybe pursue your dreams. Or even have fun. In t-town all, I have ever found are lousy job and lousy pay.
Why do I live here? Is it any better anywhere else? Life is pretty good here over all. Not too much crime and violence. Lots of social things going on. Civic pride. Pretty scenary. Historic neighborhoods. Good bus system. Good restuarants. And oh yeah we are the state capital.
I'm a small town guy! I don't even own a car! I ride the bus or walk. I can't handle big cities at all. But I don't like small towns. And I have lots of friends and family here- so Tallahassee is where I am at. Probably till I die.
What do i do?
See the problem is that I am a cartoonist with next to no digital training. Yeah- you may as well be practice cave painting or carve totem poles. There are NO JOBS for local cartoonists here. There never have been, there never will be, because computers ate the earth and there is clip art on every blog. Even mine. So I have never made money at what I do.
What I do to make money is crappy work for restaurants and copy centers, etc. I have worked at big places and little places all over this town. For thirty years! It makes my head ache to think of all the jobs i have had. I wish i could retire- but its twenty years away.
I am unemployed NOW- and have been for a year and a month. it is depressing. But i have a few interviews lined up- which is GOOD as i am almost out of Money.
