| Freaky Friday for Felines ASC Offers One-Day Adoption Special Are you worried this Friday will bring you only bad fortune? Well, bad luck will surely turn away if you make a trip to the Tallahassee-Leon Animal Service Center (ASC)! They have the cure for your paraskevidekatriaphobia. The ASC aims to change up your Friday the 13th luck (and that of some of their four-legged residents) by waiving adoption fees on all black cats. In fact, they're trying to guarantee you have good luck finding your purr-fect feline, so they are waiving adoption fees on any cat that has any black markings! According to Scottish folklore, black cats signify prosperity, and you'll definitely be feeling prosperous walking out of the ASC with a free charcoal kitty. This is a one-day only opportunity though, so be sure to stop by between 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. this Friday. Kennels close a half hour before the ASC closes. Be prepared by previewing animals available for adoption online at Talgov.com/Animals. Potential adopters are encouraged to bring their own cat carrier for transporting their new friend safely home. While the adoption fee is waived, cats not spayed/neutered at the time of adoption will still require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit. Cats are relatively low-maintenance in comparison to dogs. They don't need formal exercise like regular walks or constant trips to the backyard, making them ideal companions for apartment dwellers. Research has shown that cats (and all pets) can help improve your mood, lower your blood pressure and relieve stress. While the benefits to you are numerous, the benefit to the felines adopted from the ASC is that they get a loving, stable family, which will give them a healthy, happy life, too. The Animal Service Center, located adjacent to Tom Brown Park at 1125 Easterwood Drive, is operated and maintained by the City's Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department.
