Something New from Something Old - Repurposed Thrift Store Furniture
OFFLINE

I absolutely LOVE turning something old and useless into something new and useful. One of my favorite things to do is scrounge through thrift stores for things I can repurpose or "up-cycle". Just starting out and there's not a lot to show. My plan for this blog is to share my treasure hunts and projects and hopefully inspire a few readers.

One thing I don't have is a lot of money to spend on a hobby. So I've been researching what different things you can make out of regular household items instead of trashing them.

We have a large family and a small home. An ordeal we faced regularly was not enough closet or dresser space. The thought occurred to me, "Is there really much difference in a dresser and a buffet?" I don't think there is. We happened to get lucky on our first stop! Good Samaritan Thrift Store on Woodville Hwy in Tallahassee had a large old dresser for $10! It needed cleaned up and painted but the wood was in great shape. Next trip was to the paint department to see their "oops paint." (Oops Paint is what I call the discount paint that was mixed the wrong color for someone's order). There happened to be two colors that I wanted in my beachy kitchen, peach and lavender. An hour later the dressers were painted. They now sit on opposite walls in our kitchen as buffets. The tops are great space for storing kitchen items we rarely use like cake plates and decorative dishes. The drawers handle the overflow of laundry for our large family. This was a big WIN!

You did a great job restoring these two pieces of furniture. Sometimes the things we once treasured that became worn and outdated can be updated with a little bit of imagination and a whole lot of paint. Great job!
