Give me a reason to Belly Dance!

Give me a reason to belly dance!  I can give you a reason, but sometimes the best is your own reason.

There are many of you who have expressed a desire to start Belly Dancing.  I'm so happy I started dancing so many years ago.  There are many reasons to start belly dancing, but what is your reason?

  • Physical and mental health benifits can be gained by belly dancing.  Learning to dance gets those brain cells firing, and the stress reducing affects are out of this world!  Then you are moving, getting an hour of low impact exercise.  We could all use these!
  • Becoming in tune with your body's movement and how it moves while dancing.  This is very interesting, as it develops as you take several classes.  You will feel a sense of how your muscles work, how muscels work with the skeletal structure, and how they move together to create dance.
  • Social interaction will new people is a big plus.  Many people want a more social activity than a class at a gym affords.  You will meet fellow students, and have a chance to attend events with them around Tallahassee.  We also love to travel and this can be a great way to bond.  Road trip!
  • Learning about culture, music, art, food, and so much more.  If you love to learn how other culture look at the world, this is a great place to start.  As Belly Dance was born on the silk and spice road, it is rich in history and culture.
  • Arabic and Turkish are two of the most prominent languages sung in belly dance music.  You will pick up some of the words in both languages as you listen to the music and learn to dance.
  • You may have your own reason(s) for wanting to start dancing.  These are lots of them out there!

Arabian Flair has classes, private lessons, and specialty classes all in belly dance.  We meet Wednesdays 6pm at Divine Union and Thursdays 6:30pm at Dance Tallahassee.
